"Labor pain is not synonymous with suffering. Suffering is being harassed, subdued, mistreated at the time of YOUR childbirth. Suffering is being invaded by strange hands and unnecessary procedures. Suffering is letting people and theories (often outdated) decide what is good or right for you and your child. Pain at this point need not be your enemy. When we disassociate the "pain" from the "suffering", it will teach you SO much about motherhood and about yourself ... that maybe later you'll even miss it!" Your labor can absolutely look like this. I have attended many mamas who laughed, sang, breathed, danced, sensually released their babies out, mamas who told me they were in ecstasy with their pain and labor sensations. When before have you consciously made the decision to choose not to suffer in the midst of discomfort, intensity or pain? It is so within your power, and does not have to be limited to spiritual gurus, healers, major athletes, warriors, and performers.
